Ugh.

April 9th, 2008

Today was such a good day, and I was planning on posting something, but then I got home and it went to total shit. It makes me feel sick.

Recommendations to stop spam on WordPress?

April 6th, 2008

Anyone have suggestions on how to stop spam in WordPress comments? I think there’s some way to install a plug in or something like that, but I’m sure. I’m pretty sure I’d have to update to a higher version of the WP software too. Which is never fun, I had to do it once and I was white knuckles the whole time. Suggestions? I literally get thousands of spam comments a day.

Madballs are back!

January 20th, 2008

Madballs Screamin Meemie 6056
I wrote about this way back in May of 2006, and I had practically given up hope that the Madballs line would be rereleased.

That all changed a few weeks ago, when I did a little searching, and found that the license had been transfered to Basic Fun (a company that’s actually only about 20 minutes from my apartment.)

Weird thing though, the BasicFun website makes NO mention of the MadBalls figures.

I’ve found them for sale in several places, cheapest being $4 online at Urban Outfitters, though they are $8 in store.
I’ve found them at Toys R Us for $5, which is where I picked up the entire Series 1, though I did have to go to 2 different stores to find one of them.

They’ve also launched a line of licensed T-Shirts, one of which I got for Christmas this year. 80stees.com sells 2 of them.

God, I love nostalgia.

Dear Coworkers: A quick lesson.

January 8th, 2008

Dear Coworkers,
If you decide to make fun of me while on the clock, you should:
1. Make sure you are not in front of a functioning intercom. And
2. Make sure that I am not on the other end of the intercom.

It’ll just make things less awkward for the both of us, ok? Good.

Thanks!

More free money from State Farm!

December 19th, 2007

I posted about it a year ago and it happend again today. Another check from State Farm because they made so much money this year. While the check is less than last years by about 2/3rds, it still covers almost 2 months of car & renters insurance.
Thanks State Farms!

Spark Is A Diamond - Push It (Salt N Pepa Cover)

November 2nd, 2007

A just discovered band that’s pretty local to me, Spark Is A Diamond from Philly. I heard about them a few weeks ago, and got to see them for the first time on Monday. They’re MySpace page says they’re “hardcore/experimental/electro”, so we’ll go with that.

As per usual, I brought my camera to the show, and snapped a bunch of pics, but I also shot 3 videos, including the one below. If you ever wondered what Salt N Pepa’s Push It would sound like if a female fronted hardcore band wrote it, wonder no more, just click play below.

And you can check out my pictures on my flickr page.

And also check out their MySpace page, or their website, SparkIsADiamond.com

Thanks Maintenance Guys!

October 31st, 2007

Dear Apartment Maintenance People,
While I appreciate you FINALLY fixing the window that has been broken for over a year, I didn’t really appreciate the bed, desk and floor full of saw dust and wood chips. I’m glad I put my iMac back into the box and moved it far far from the window.
Sincerely,
Me.

Banana Twinkies are back!

October 2nd, 2007

I wrote about them way back in April 2006 when they were a tie-in with the King Kong movie, but on a recent jaunt to the grocery store I noticed that they were back on sale! I picked some up, and they taste just like I remember. If you missed out the first time, be sure to get them now!
Unfortunately, BananaTwinkies.com seems to have been taken over by spammers, so don’t bother visiting, but you can check out the Archive.org cache of it right here.

Drink Review: Mountain Dew Game Fuel

September 26th, 2007

I don’t typically drink Mountain Dew, it usually leaves my teeth feeling like they’ve been soaking in Pixie Stix for a few days, with that weird…sugary/waxy coating on it. But when I heard they were making a limited edition Mountain Dew, based around the Halo3 release, that was all the convincing I needed to pick some up.
Available for only a few short weeks, which I believe have ended, the Mountain Dew is basically cherry flavored soda. But..not regular cherry, like Cherry Pepsi. It is almost sickly sweet. It is however, still delicious. It is probably as close as you can come to drinking liquid candy. Not really what I expected at all, but it is good. It reminds me slightly of Goya sodas, which I used to drink w hen I worked next to a dollar store and they were 2/$1
I’m pretty sure this soda isn’t being made anymore, but a bunch of stores local to my new apartment and by my parents house have stacks and stacks of it. So stock up!

New Apartment Update

September 9th, 2007

The new Apt. is going fine. I have most of my stuff here. But..not everything. And a lot of stuff is still in boxes.
I finished a video I got hired by a church to do, they’re cutting me a check soon, which will be nice.
I got paid a bunch of cash for a website I made for someone, which was also nice. The paid 1/2 so far. But I’m ok with that.
I want to buy a 110 camera, because I can’t find mine. All you people that didn’t get me anything for my birthday last week take note. Walgreens still sells and processes 110 film.
That’s about all that I’ve been up to. It seems like not all that much, but I’ve been super busy lately.

And here’s a picture I this weekend near my parents house:

Moving & Internet Access finally

August 21st, 2007

As you probably know if you read this site, I moved on Saturday. It went surprisingly well. Luckily we did it on Saturday, because it has been raining everyday since then.
I still have some boxes left to move over from my parents house, but I’m going to hold off until the weather is better, because it’s not really anything important.
My friend Bill donated his old wireless router yesterday, so I now have internet access, which is good, because that was one of my main concerns.
I took 2 days off from work (only my 2nd & 3rd days off from work all year) and have been getting adjusted, unpacking, driving around looking for stores/gas stations/etc.
So, that’s the story so far. I still have a bunch of unpacking to do, but the majority of my stuff is done. Bye for now!

Moving in 3…2…1…

August 18th, 2007

So, I’m moving in a few hours. Not sure how long it will be until I have internet access, I’ll probably jump on at my friends houses and I still have internet at work, but I can’t check my e-mail from work (with the exception of flickr’s built in flickr mail). So I won’t be around much for a little while. Not that my site output has been at a staggering level, with the whole “packing every day after work”, hopefully once I’m moved in and settled I can start writing more. I took Mon & Tues off from work to give me time to unpack and settle and such. My friend will be here in about 90 minutes to help me load up my bed and other large pieces as furnitute. And as soon as I post this I’m taking apart my PC & iMac (well..I guess you just unplug an iMac, you know what I meant). And then I have to take my desk partially apart because it’s enormous.
Bye for now!

Movie Review: The Simpsons Movie

August 1st, 2007

Not bad. But it could have been a 2 part episode. Except they wouldn’t have made trucks of cash off that. I’m a huge Simpsons fan, and…it’s ok. If you’re not super into the show there’s no need to rush out to see it, it’s not life change-ingly good or anything. Also, AMC raised their prices AGAIN. $9.50 is a bit much.

Wow, an update.

July 17th, 2007

So, yea, a severe lack of updates lately. But I have litterally no time to do that. Which stinks, and honestly, I feel bad about.
Basically my day goes like this:
6:45am - alarm goes off
6:45am-7:30am - hit snooze repeatedly
7:30am-8:30am - get ready for work
9am - 6pm - work+commute
7am - 10pm - pack
10pm - 12am - try and relax
1am - 3am - lay in bed and try to sleep
3am - 6:45am - sleep

So, unfortunately that leave very little time for blogging. When I do have free time, I try to spend it with friends or doing something like going to a movie, or going to a show, or driving 4 hours to Maryland to go to the Kwik E Mart.
So, sorry for the lack of updates. I’m moving on the 19th of August. And took some time off from work that week, so hopefully things will get back to normal soon enough. Though probably not, since it’s going to be a huge change in my entire life. I’m not freaking out too bad yet, though I suspect that may be at least partly responsible for me not being able to sleep.

What’s Inside A Magic 8 Ball?

July 8th, 2007

What's Inside A Magic 8 Ball? 4746I’ve often wondered what was in a magic 8 Ball, and since I’m in the process of purging a ton of my stuff, as well as organizing it and the like, and I have (err..had) 2 non working Magic 8 Balls, I decided to find out.

The tools I used were a hammer, to smash the 8 ball casing, an awl to punch holes in the container to let it drain, and a hacksaw to cut open the container, and retrieve the 20 sided answer dice.

The answer is: a container of blue goo, and a 20 sided answer dice. The blue stuff stained my sidewalk like crazy, and my hand for about a day and a half. My sidewalk is still bright blue 2 days later.

Vermonty Python

June 13th, 2007

Finally…Monty Python does something worthwhile.
I hate coffee flavor, but this ice cream, described as “Coffee liqueur ice cream with a chocolate cookie crumb swirl & fudge cows” is delicious.
It might be my new favorite ice cream flavor.

Movie Review: Mr. Brooks

June 10th, 2007

I actually saw this last weekend, but didn’t get around to writing anything about it until now. There’s probably spoilers in this, so read with caution if you want to see it.
Mr. Brooks is a new psychological thriller staring oddly enough Kevin Costner, not exactly who you’d consider your first choice to play a serial killer. It also stars Dane Cook in a serious role (he was surprisingly good), Demi Moore amongst others.
The story is based around Kevin Costner’s attempts at keeping himself from killing people, while still keeping himself sane, and protecting his family from himself as well as themselves.
The movie was pretty good, I’d say a solid B. It does feature some nudity, and some…arterial blood spray, but nothing too gorey.
Ans supposedly it’s the first in a trilogy, so you might be seeing more of Mr. Brooks in the future. It’s made 18 million in 2 weeks at the box office, so who knows. I certainly wouldn’t mind 2 more movies.

Ringing Rocks State Park

June 4th, 2007

Ringing Rocks is a state park in Bucks County PA. The rocks here ring like bells when you hit them with hammers, 1 of the only places in the world where it happens, and it’s only about an hour from my house. I made a trek out there recently, and here’s a short (8 sec) video I shot of me hitting a rock with a hammer.
There’s also some pictures up on my flickr account.
Yes, I got a YouTube account just to put this up.

DSL=WORKING

May 27th, 2007

I talked to a Verizon guy for about an hour on Friday, and got my DSL sorted out and working. So now I’m on my DSL on my iMac. Woo hoo! Hooray for progress. Dialup made me want to die.
